Danemere News

Thursday 3rd May

We received a bittersweet email today.  Ernie was a dog that we rehomed  years ago but sadly he recently passed away. His owner has sent us some lovely pictures along with this email:

8 yrs ago we had a spaniel from you - his name was Rolo and he was about 5yrs old and the size of a small coffee table, he didn’t know he was a spaniel and it took him about 3 months to realise that he could run and play and wag his tail. A strict diet and lots of country walks, coupled with doggy tuition from our other spaniel- Bert - he soon became a very much loved part of the family. We changed his name to Ernie and he and Bert became inseparable.  Unfortunately last night at the age of 13 he had a massive seizure from which he didn’t survive.  We thought you might like to see some pics - you may even remember him - we lived in Crowle at the time but moved to Dorset 5 years ago where the boys enjoyed going swimming in the sea.

Thank you for introducing us to Ernie - we hope we made the last 8 years enjoyable for him - he certainly bought much joy to us.

Tuesday 13th February

- Amber has been rehomed today!

Sandra Cole, Now at Rest

We first met Sandra when Kipper came to Danemere seeking help to find a loving new home. Kipper joined our family and Sandra became a close friend and volunteer. Sandra was one of the founding members of Danemere Animal Rescue and worked hard for the benefit of the thousands of animals we’ve been privileged to help.  Sandra passed away due to a chronic condition on Wednesday, 10th January and it is with great sadness we say goodbye, we will sorely miss you and thank you from all of us and all the pets you’ve helped find loving homes.

Please feel welcome to join in saying goodbye to Sandra at her funeral on Tuesday, 30th January, 4.00 pm at Worcester Crematorium. In respect for Sandra’s ethos, we would welcome donations instead of flowers to enable Sandra to continue her passion of helping pets even as she leaves us.

Tuesday 14th November

Christmas is a time for sharing - please don't forget about our rescue animals..

*OUR APPEAL*
Christmas can be a long and lonely time of year for many of the dogs and cats in our rehoming kennels and although we are closed to the public over the festive period, the animals still need us.
So while the turkey is in the oven and your presents are being opened, we are here to clean, feed and love the rescue animals.
With no homes to go to and no loving families to be a part of, our dogs and cats need your help and support but unfortunately, we cannot do this alone. We need you to help us carry on caring for the unwanted, especially at this time of year.
If you can donate bedding, food, treats or even a little bit of money, we would be extremely grateful. Your generosity helps us get through the Christmas period and makes the dogs and cats feel just as loved as you do.

It was a bittersweet moment as we all loved getting to know Grace, we will miss her but we are so happy we have managed to get her a well deserved fresh start in life!

Thursday 28th September

We are in need of a home for Pilchard. He is not at Danemere but please get in contact with Rebecca if you can help:

Pilchard is a stray cat that has been living outdoors for the past 6 months, he was in a bit of a sorry state when we first found him but he has been to the vets, checked over, treated and neutered, and is now a much healthier and happy cat, he is very gentle and loves being stroked/tickled, but isn't as keen on being picked up, he is used to being around other cats in the garden, and loves his food! Unfortunately, Pilchard is unable to stay where he is and we would really like to see him in a forever home before the weather turns cold. As he is a stay we are unsure of his age, but we believe he is a young cat, maybe around 2 years old and would make the right person a lovable pet.

If you can offer a home to Pilchard, please contact Rebecca on 07734356669
